I am sure that many Russians know him from "Fashion Verdict" show as a person with a great sense of humor and taste. As for me, I don't watch TV, I am a theater-goer though) I attended two of his performances: "Mistery of Coco Chanel" and "Secrets of the Dior house".
You probably know what one-man shows are. There is only one person on the stage surrounded by chair, table and other properties. But Mr. Vasiliev always demonstrates his own unique slide show on the screen, which is his original property. Collected or personally taken photos are integral part of his speech. I was surprised at how easy this man grabs the attention of the audience ... And all thanks to the fact that he talks about what he really likes a lot, about what he is very familiar with. I think this is the secret that helps us to be interesting and heard.
Alexander Vasiliev's show is a well-illustrated & tasty-offered mix of history & fashion, personal biographies and environment. Authentic photos make us vividly live these moments, imagine to live through the same historical period at the same place. Here you realize how closely fashion is connected with historical events,or, with inner world and physical shape of the designer).
In the course of performance Alexander Vasiliev seems to communicate with each member of the audience, makes witty jokes, being a very good connoisseur of female soul. And essential part of his audience is female, of course...
My kind advise to you would be to mute your ring tones during performance. It was very funny (or sad))) when somebody's mobile phone sounded with a simple, but intrusive tune. A woman sitting in the front row just did not know how to turn off the sound. She twisted the phone in her hands, tried to hide it in her bag, but the sound didn't stop. Vasiliev paused his story making the audience tense. But the ring tone went on. Then Vasiliev began to dance on the stage & said something like: "What a catchy tune!" The audience applauded. But the phone kept ringing!) Then the performer advised the following: "You may use a "silent" button. If this does not help, to swallow might be the option!") It was said so positively, without any irritation. Everybody laughed. Then he told the audience that at the show "Fashion Verdict" they put a fine for several thousands rubles for ringing mobiles while telerecording.
This is all about our cultural level. We can be taught only with monetary penalties. It is very sad.
After shows Alexander Vasiliev gladly communicates with his public, autographs the CDs, which can be purchased before the performance or between the acts.
